Healsville 2003 My home club Emerald & District Vintage Machinery Group Inc was invited by the Yarra Valley Tourist Railway at Healesville to put on a display during one of their running days. While the show was only a small one, the engines were varied and provided a good opportunity to catch up with the club members and to review the progress of the re-opening of the branch line which houses the YVTR. There is a related photo album of the rail side of things at YVTR. The day was magnificent for the show - highly typical of the weather in the Yarra Valley once over the ranges. Bright and sunny without being too hot (it was about 28C). I brought along my hit-n-miss Cooper (Stover KA) and the New Record (Rosebery powered) Drag Saw. The saw did not get a work out this time just chugged away to itself quietly. The other members brought along a Blackstone; a couple of Listers (one cold start diesel and one petrol); a Sundial; a Cooper (Stover) TB; a Ruston PR; and last but not least a couple of tractors a Fergy and a Fordson. The Fergy is "dressed up" and includes an elephant which squirts water at passers by. As always with our club, a good relaxed safe show which was enjoyed by all the members who brought machinery. Best of all I finally sorted out my little KA - it ran for most of the show which is quite a change for it. The Emerald club is a growing club of around 50 or so members. It is a great club to belong to as it includes a wide cross section of our interests without the "political" problems which abound within some clubs. We meet every 3rd Monday of each month at the Emerald Museum (Nobelius Nursery) Crichton Rd Emerald Melway Ref 127 G4. Guests are always welcome. The meeting starts at 8pm but it is advisable to arrive about 7.30 to take part in the pre-meeting social gathering. There is a huge amount of knowledge to be tapped and augmented by your own - drop by sometime. |
