Engine & Machinery Condition Classifications


Trying to accurately describe the condition of engines and related machinery at rallies or auctions is always difficult as there is no universal system of classification in widespread usage.

The following chart has been created in order to help enthusiasts searching for a common set of definitions.

Fully restored to show conditions. Fully restored, exhibition standard. Fully restored to exhibition standard.

Unrestored and complete. Restored to average condition. Restored to average show condition.

Unrestored and incomplete. Unrestored, clean, usable and complete. Unrestored, clean, usable and complete.

4

Parts only. As found, possibly total non- runner but at least 90% complete. As found, possible total non- runner, 90% complete.

5

  As found, incomplete, but may be restorable.
