shingle cutoff and shaker maker

Shinqle-Maker Attachment-For any Ward Sawmill! Attaches on headblock of mill. Specially designed end dogs adjustable to take 16 or 18-inch blocks of thickness giving desired shingle width-are chucked by hand levers. Amount of taper is controlled by adjustment on oscillation lever at end of headblock. Also makes mine wedges 12" long with I" taper. Shingles are counted as being 4-inches wide. Each of the two sets of end dogs on Wards Shingle-Maker takes two 4-inch blocks-therefore, stroke of the carriage makes four shingles! Complete, simple instructions included.

Almost any wood makes serviceable shingles if free from knots and sawed thickness proportioned to the wood's strength and durability. Commercial-shinqles are a wood product free from low price competition. Market prices established by big mills must include freight costs. This enables the local producer-to quote lower prices, yet make a substantial profit, while giving his customers a better (heavier) quality. Production as high as 20,000 per day. Shipped from factory near Kansas City, Mo. For Time Payment Plan see Page 2.

Cut-Off Saw Carriaqe---Consists of metal parts to convert any Ward Sawmill into a serviceable Cut-Off Saw. Use it for cutting flitches into shingle blocks, lath bolts, and other stock requiring uniformly exact lengths and squared butts. An important and unusual feature is the special Automatic Safety Gauge Head which supports the block firmly between the saw and gauge, as shown in left portion of picture. Should a block jam saw, this head instantly backs away and then resets itself automatically. Those familiar with the ordinary unsupported types, where the Jammed, falling block often causes damage or injury, will appreciate this Automatic Safety Gauge Head. Other parts furnished include 2 grooved and 2 plain rollers in holders, 2 sets of gauge arm clamps, bolts, and drawings and instructions for construction. You furnish your own wood parts and thus reduce shipping charges. Easily removed for ordinary sawing. Use only with a cross-cut saw.
