Stationary Engine Mailing List (SEL)The Stationary Engine Mailing List (SEL) was started some years ago by Brice Adams for the purposes of learning more about Stationary Engines. The list was originally housed at the University of Indiana in Bloomington Indiana. For unknown reasons the University decided that there was way to much learning going on on the list for them to be any part of it. For a moment the list fragmented. Spencer Yost of www.atis.net provided a new permanent home and Harry Matthews generated a spin-off bulletin board. There is also a second SEL which survives to this day. The main list is housed at ATIS (Antique Tractor Internet Services) and is extremely popular with about 400 members from all around the world and around 50 - 100 messages per day. I cannot pretend that the members only deal with Stationary Engines, and you'll probably hit the delete key a lot - but every time I consider it, I think the list is well worth the effort. Unlike most discussion groups this is a close personal bunch of friends (just imagine the list was a circle of 400 people sitting around a campfire with loads of beer and you'll get the idea). You can get all the details of subscribing at ATIS.
