Gembrook Mixed - first mixed into Gembrook into 51 years - 24 JUL 04

On 24 July 2004, the first mixed goods and passenger ran from Belgrave to Gembrook in 51 years. The train stopped at many stations usually bypassed. Vehicles were shunted in and out of the consist at Clematis and Cockatoo. The whole train was remarshalled at Gembrook. The train consisted of 12NA hauling NU3, 91NQR, 216NQR, NM13, NBH3, NBH2, NL4. 186NQR was added at Clematis on the down. NU3 was shunted out at Cockatoo on the down and picked up on the up to maintain the tonnage maximum up Fielder Bank. The train was assisted by 7NA out of Lakeside with a rear banking to the home signal. All in all a fantastic day with whistle stops at stations. Plenty of photo stops and loads of work to do.
